  • Condition: Very good; structurally sound with minor to be expected wear with age and use. Table surfaces have minor sporadic scratches, upper table surface effected by some shrinkage (see slim separation lengthwise seam border), interior corners are reinforced with metal brackets, lower shelf shrinkage ( see slim separation of both lengthwise seams and a natural that runs about half the length of lower table), see images. Overall finish is beautiful. A striking piece.

    Description

    This striking heavy Chinese carved rosewood long low table has two tiers. The rectangular table has a plain top and is distinguished by a rounded finish at edges. The piece features lengthwise side aprons with auspicious characters, each decorated with a longevity symbol at center flanked by bats and flora accented demi-longevity symbols. The side openwork panels feature a stylized central divider. All decorative relief carvings of the aprons and openwork panels are surrounded by an ornate scrolling pattern. This fine hand-crafted table with mortise and tenon construction rests on traditional hoof feet.
