    Description

    This antique Chinese Chest On Chest is hand painted with multi layers of lacquer. The top part is a trunk placed upon a slightly wider chest. The trunk has intricate carvings of traditional Chinese "scroll" design at the bottom. Both trunk and chest have hand painted floral design on the surface. Beautiful hardware is original. This Chest On Chest is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Circa early of 19th century. Original patina and wear. Made from elm wood, the chest is very heavy and has been kept in excellent condition. (This Chest On Chest can be used as two piece of furniture as well.)
